GA4 dashboards & scheduled reports

Once a website is connected to a GA4 property, the Dashboards tab on that website gives you saved views of the property's data: KPI tiles with period-over-period change, trends by day, breakdowns by channel, page, device or country, event funnels, and a realtime view. Each dashboard can be shared as a read-only link and emailed on a schedule as an HTML summary, a PDF, or both.

Dashboards read the GA4 Data API through the same Google connection the setup wizard made, so there is nothing extra to configure. They are available on the Business plan and above (the same tier as GA4 reconciliation).

Starting from a template

A website with no dashboards shows the template gallery. Each template creates a dashboard with a ready-made set of widgets that you can then edit, reorder or delete — the template is a starting point, not a live link.

  • Ecommerce — revenue, purchases, purchaser conversion rate and average order value with comparison; revenue by day; the view_item → add_to_cart → begin_checkout → purchase funnel; purchases by channel; top items by revenue.
  • Acquisition — users, sessions and new users; sessions by day; sessions by default channel group; top source / medium pairs; landing pages.
  • Engagement — engagement rate, average session duration and pages per session; views by day; top pages; sessions by device; users by country.
  • Realtime — active users in the last 30 minutes, by page, by country and by device, refreshed every 30 seconds.

Blank dashboard starts empty so you can add exactly the widgets you want.

Date range and comparison

The picker offers Today, Yesterday, Last 7 / 28 / 90 days and a custom range. Presets end yesterday, matching GA4's own reports, because today is still being processed. Turning on Compare adds the preceding period of the same length: KPI tiles show the percentage change, time series draw the previous period as a dashed line, and tables add a delta next to each number.

Set as default saves the current preset and compare setting on the dashboard. Scheduled reports and the share link always use the saved defaults.

Widgets

Add widget opens an editor with a type, a title, and searchable dimension and metric pickers loaded from your property's own metadata — so custom dimensions and custom metrics appear by their display names, marked with a custom badge. You can also type an API name directly.

  • KPI tiles — one tile per metric, no dimensions. “Lower is better” flips the delta colour for bounce rate or cost metrics.
  • Time series — a date dimension (date, week, month) plotted for the first metric.
  • Bar and Donut — one dimension, one metric. Donuts fold small categories into “Other”.
  • Table — up to four dimensions and six metrics, sorted by the metric you choose, with an inline bar behind each number.
  • Funnel — event counts for an ordered list of event names, with step-to-step conversion.
  • Realtime — the realtime API's active users, optionally broken down by one of its dimensions.

Widgets are half or full width on a two-column grid. Reorder them with the arrows, or drag a card by its handle. Every change is saved as you make it.

Sharing a dashboard

Create share link mints a public, read-only URL. Anyone with the link sees a live render using the dashboard's saved date range; there is no login and the page is excluded from search engines. Rotate replaces the link, Revoke turns it off. Agencies with white-label branding see their company name, logo and colour on the shared page.

Scheduled reports

New schedule emails the dashboard daily, weekly (pick the weekday) or monthly (pick a day from 1 to 28) at a chosen hour in UTC, to up to twenty recipients. Choose the format:

  • Email summary — KPI tiles with change, ranked tables and bar breakdowns rendered as email-safe HTML, with a link to the full report.
  • PDF — the full report printed to an A4 PDF and linked (or attached) in the email.
  • Both — the summary plus the PDF.

Every send freezes the data into a report page at /reports/ga4/…, so a recipient opening the link next month sees exactly what was sent. The schedule shows its last run, any error, and the next run time; Run now sends immediately. Reports pause automatically if the plan no longer includes dashboards or Google access needs reconnecting.

GA4 API quota

Google allows each property a fixed budget of Data API requests per hour and per day. TagEasy caches every response — thirty seconds for realtime, ten minutes for ranges that include today, a day for ranges that have closed — and limits how many requests run at once for one property. If a property runs low on quota the dashboard says so; if it runs out, cached results are shown until the budget resets.

Reconnecting Google

If the Google account that connected GA4 revokes access or its token expires, the dashboard shows a reconnect banner. Reconnecting from there (or from the setup wizard) restores every dashboard and schedule; nothing needs to be rebuilt.
